A Prayer of Salvation
This is just a sample Prayer for Salvation. Sometimes called the Sinner's Prayer.
It's not the prayer that saves, it is our decisions. Once we understand that we are all born sinners, forever separate from God, but that God made a Way for us to come to Him, then we are free to make an informed choice. We can continue to live our own lives our own way, a way that leads to certain death, or we can chose Life. God is Life, and He is love.
God is Love
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:7-10)
When seeking Salvation, which is God's Gift of Life and Love to us, you must believe in God and have faith.
Read Matthew 14:27-31 where Peter has enough faith in Jesus to walk on water, but he begins doubt and to sink. Nevertheless, "immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him,
God is calling for you, and this prayer is just an example of what you can say:
Our Dear Heavenly Father,
You came to us as Your Son Jesus. He lived a perfect life in our stead. He bore our sins and our guilt. And when he died on the cross, He made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
I understand that I was born into sin, and have lived in my transgressions until now. As a result, I am completely lost and powerless to save myself. But I do not want to remain apart from You any longer.
So, I come to You now, just as I am. Please save me. I understand that in order to do so, I must put my faith and trust in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Through the power of Your Love and Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ rose again into Eternal Life. Because of Your love for us, You gave Christ the authority to give us the Gift of Eternal Life which I freely accept.
My whole life is given to You Father, without any reservations. Please help me gain a deeper understanding of You every day. Please help me to live in accordance with Your Will which can be found in Your Word.
Thank You, Father, for giving Your Only Son Jesus' life so that we might live. I thank you for forgiving my sins, for entering my heart, and for giving me the eternal gifts of love and life.

Only by believing in God and making Him Lord through His Son, Jesus Christ, can one become a child of God! God transforms everyone who makes such a choice, and He has amazing and fantastic plans for them!
God's Holy Spirit comes into their heart now and forever. God has appointed you as His child, all you have to do is accept His Gift of Life.
For those who do this, Jesus says that when He comes again, He will take them to Himself to be with Him forever. Those who have died in Christ, will rise from the dead first.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:2-3)
Children of God will live forever in tremendous peace and joy, with a new wonder every moment where they will always be loved, happy, and satisfied. They will never cry, go hungry or thirsty, or experience pain again and will always be comforted. This world is currently at war with God and His Children, meaning that we might still encounter difficulties, persecutions, trials, and tribulations.
There is a day coming when a new Heaven and Earth will be created. The Earth will undergo destruction and purification through fire, being remade and perfect forever. Likewise, the previous Heaven will fade away and be recreated anew, forever perfect.

What steps should I take now that I am saved and a child of God?
To understand what Our God has to say to us, it is important to find a Holy Bible. Read the Holy Bible, know it, believe it, obey it, and accept it. This is our duty. However, this is meaningless without love.
Remember that Love is a choice and that Jesus Christ is the Word of God.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:1-3)
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)
"Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." (Hebrews 13:20-21)
